Come join us for a relaxed, interactive day in Eastbourne, Sussex, to learn about fibres, fabric composition, and their characteristics through a mixture of theory and practical exercises. This workshop can help you to better understand and choose fabric for your creative projects.
Are you new to sewing and unsure what fabric to buy, or perhaps you always seem to buy the wrong fabric for your sewing project?
Gain a better understanding of the fabrics you choose for your creative projects as Karen guides you through this workshop where we review and discuss natural and man-made materials, fibres/fabric composition, characteristics, and treatments such as colourisation and finishing in this relaxed workshop that mixes theory and practical exercises.
This informative, unique workshop will help you to gain knowledge, meet like-minded people, and better understand the fabric that you are buying.
We will provide you with a selection of fabric samples throughout the workshop for you to review up close, catalogue, and take home with you for reference.
We begin the day at 10:15 and will be finished by 15:45 with a delicious light lunch provided halfway through the day.
Where is this workshop held?
This workshop is held at Sicilia Qui, a coffee shop and artisan food store that offers delicious Sicilian food and beverages that you can enjoy amongst an eclectic display of paintings and sculptures made by local artists.
The coffee shop is located on the ground floor of the popular Enterprise Shopping Centre in Eastbourne, Sussex, and toilet facilities are available in the centre on the first floor (accessed via a set of stairs). The venue is situated next to Eastbourne railway station and is also close to town centre bus stops, and there are multiple options for parking, including the Enterprise Centre car park, Eastbourne station car park, and on-street parking in the local area.
What is included?
The cost includes a day’s learning with fabric samples and a delicious light lunch of Bruschettone with tea/coffee/water.

You will learn about materials, fibres, and fabric composition as well as their characteristics and properties, including opacity and drape.
